Styles

Edge Grain Edge Grain

  • Classic “butcher block” appearance
  • Stable construction style…typical for countertops
  • Solid strips run continuously along the surface
Face Grain Face Grain

  • Plank Style
  • Classic “plank” style…typical for furniture
  • Wider “plank” boards are selected, exposing more grain detail
End Grain End Grain

  • Parquet appearance
  • The hardest work surface…ideal for heavy chopping
  • Smaller strips stand vertically, exposing the end of the wood
  • Crafted in a grid or random pattern
  • 2” minimum thickness

For Cutting Surfaces

  • BioShield Herbal Oil
  • Low-VOC
  • Food-grade finish … ideal for chopping
  • Linseed based oil, brings out rich coloration of the wood
  • Offers some water resistance, but less stain resistance
  • No UV protection
  • Monthly maintenance required…wipe on, wipe off

For Work Surfaces

  • BioShield Hard Oil
  • Low-VOC
  • Good for steady use…ideal for kitchen islands
  • Linseed and tung oil based, brings out rich coloration of the wood
  • Water and stain resistant, but not water proof
  • No UV protection
  • Not as durable or simple to maintain as a polyurethane finish
  • Monthly maintenance required…wipe on, wipe off

For Extra Water Resistance

  • Osmo Poly-X
  • Low-VOC
  • Good for higher moisture areas…ideal for kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities
  • Sunflower, soybean and thistle oils with carnauba and candellia waxes
  • Used as a top coat over our oil finishes…for added water resistance
  • Not as durable or simple to maintain as a polyurethane finish
  • No UV protection
  • Monthly maintenance required…wipe on, wipe off

For Fuss Free Maintenance

  • Mohawk’s Waterborne Pre-Catalyzed Lacquer (Satin Finish)
  • Low-VOC, Greenguard Certified
  • Water-based lacquer…ideal for commercial applications
  • This finish does not bring out the richest coloration of wood
  • Our most durable finish, but still susceptible to scratching, dings & dents
  • No monthly maintenance required
  • Not easily spot finished and professional help recommended for refinishing
